Nikki's Wedding

Rexburg Idaho in January is not what most people would consider an ideal time and place for a wedding. But that is what Nikki and David felt was best. So out west went Jonny and Monika! Nikki actually got her endowments out in the Mt Timpanogas temple the day (Friday) before her wedding. So we flew into Salt Lake City, picked up the rental car and Elizabeth (who had arrived just after us) and headed south to meet the rest of the family. Anyone who knows the Checketts knows that somehow things miraculously work out of the chaos. This was no different. After mishaps of loosing keys a being about 6 hours behind they had barley made it. We all met up with just enough time to hug, change, and head over to the temple. It was wonderful to feel the Lords spirit as we were there in the temple together. After the temple there was an abundance more of chaos and havoc as things were sorted out. We ended up with some passengers in our car to tote up to Idaho with us. We finally arrived late at night, got rid of our passengers and headed to Rigby, to stay with Jon's parents in a crowded little apartment.

Then it was the wedding day. It was cold as always, but unusually nice by Rexburg standards. (In fact, it was nicer than our wedding day in October). Jon and i slept in just a little then hurried to get out the door. I thought we were running a little late, but, as those who know the Checketts will not be surprised, so was everyone else! The poor sealer had to keep stalling while we waited for everyone to arrive. But all is well that ends well, and David and Nikki were sealed and happy. :) Then followed the tradition of freezing through pictures. We then warmed up a bit with a meal that Sarah had arranged and the toasts and stories all around. Then Jon and I took the brides maid to go get stuff to decorate and celebrate their car. We then got the car completed and joined everyone at the Rexburg open house. Got to see friends and family we don't get to see often and that was wonderful.

At the end of the Checketts/Cottam festivities Jon and I snuck away to spend time with his Sister Nicole and her husband Matt and their three children. They were all so happy to see us. We played dinosaurs, and dress ups, and princesses, and legos. Good fun memories built.

Sunday morning Jon had to leave at 5am to catch his plane back to Texas. I got to stay and witness the baby blessing of our new little niece Ellianna. Jon was so sad he could not stay for that as well. So on Saturday he spent as much time holding his neice as he could. Her baby blessing performed by Thomas was beautiful.

After church we all met at Thomas and Sarah's for a dinner of taco salad with friends and all the Checketts siblings. Then we did our late Christmas gift exchange. What an amazing weekend it was!
